Breaking the Silence: A Journey Towards Healing
Story Contributor: LeiAloha Taukave-Langman
In this storytelling session, LeiAloha shares her journey of surviving sexual exploitation and harassment from within her community during her adolescent years. As an advocate for victims of sexual abuse, LeiAloha unpacks the ways in which cultural environments often dismiss sexual trauma and pressure victims to remain “strong” and silent for the sake of the collective.
